A historic view on Hyundai

Hailing from Korea, Hyundai and its sister firm Kia were originally known for producing low cost cars with generous equipment levels and attractive pricing. Standards of build quality and design weren't always the highest. Models from the latter part of this era such as the Getz supermini, Matrix supermini MPV and Santa Fe 4x4 were good value when new and will be very keenly priced used cars today. It was with the i30 in 2007 that Hyundai really started to raise its game and made a concerted effort to rise above far-eastern budget brand status. The i30 was subsequently joined by the i10 city car and i20 supermini and all are of a quality that entitles them to be judged as equals with the market leaders. Pre-owned models are now about in good numbers and well-informed second hand car buyers are starting to take an interest. The Hyundai Coupe has been one of the brand's main success stories through both stages of its development and used second hand versions are available at very reasonable prices. Hyundai might not be the first name on the lips of most used car buyers but increasingly, it's a name that demands to be taken seriously. This is particularly true in light of its industry-leading warranty packages which will still apply to nearly new cars.
