The most reliable used cars
One of the main things people worry about when buying their next car is what are the chances that it will break down? Well, that’s why we’ve compiled a list of our top 10 most reliable used cars.
Our list of cars is based on an independent owner satisfaction survey where our users have been asked to rate their cars for reliability. So, let’s start the countdown of which cars are less likely to go wrong.
10. Mazda 3
Owners have been very impressed with the Mazda 3’s reliability and it rated highly for both its build quality and road holding. However, they were less impressed with its running costs.
9. Mazda MX5
In next place comes another car from Mazda, this time the MX5. The MkIII version of the Japanese roadster is further proof of Mazda’s reputation for building reliable vehicles. It’s great fun to drive even though the boot space makes it not all that practical.
8. Kia Cee’d
In at no.8 comes the Kia Cee’d. It would appear that very few owners are having to make use of Kia’s seven year warranty as our survey shows it’s proving to be a very reliable car.
7. Skoda Yetti
The yeti scored more overall points in our survey than any other car. This means it’s been voted by our users as one of the best cars to own - which is fundamentally down to it sheer reliability.
6. Peugeot 2008
We were surprised to see a Peugeot rank so highly in our survey. However, the Peugeot 2008 seems to be proof that the French can actually build reliable cars. Most owners of the 2008 have praised the reliability very highly.
5. Kia Rio
In 5th place comes another car from Korea in the guise of the Kia Rio. The Rio leaves it’s more mainstream rivals such as the Ford Fiesta and Renault Clio for dead when it comes to reliability.
4. Audi Q3
In at 4 comes the Audi Q3. This small SUV has become one of Audi’s most popular models and according to our survey it’s Audi’s most reliable car too.
3. Lexus CT
The Lexus CT makes in into our top 3. It may have a complex petrol/electric hybrid powertrain but that doesn’t matter because it’s been fastidiously put together by a brand that’s built its name on quality.
2. Toyota Prius
In second place is the Toyota Prius. This car shares many of its parts with the Lexus CT so it’s no surprise that it scores highly for reliability. Although new cars come with a five year warranty – you probably won’t need it!
1. Honda Jazz
It should be no surprise that a car from the Honda family makes it to no.1 in our list. That’s because Honda’s have a reputation for being extremely reliable and the Jazz only helps enhance that reputation. Even though it looks relatively small, it’s big enough on the inside to be used as a great family car. It’s not the best car in its class to drive and by no means the cheapest to buy or run. However, according to our own survey it is simply one of the most reliable used cars you can buy.
