You can pay anything from £15,000 to well north of £100,000 for a new Mercedes these days and on the second hand car market, the choice is even more varied. The A-Class and B-Class provide an interesting take on the small car genre with lots of interior space for their size and an MPV feel. More traditional Mercedes models are the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class, respectively the brand's compact executive, executive and luxury saloons. Be wary of the heavy depreciation on the big V8 petrol used cars and look out for the specialised AMG-badged models if you're after hair-raising performance. There's also a varied line-up of coupes and convertibles on the second hand car market, from the C-Class Sports Coupe to the mighty SL. The SLK roadster is always a popular pre-owned buy with its folding metal roof and the elegant CLS 4-door coupe is well worth searching out. That leaves the used second hand buyer the CLC, CLK and CL coupes (based on C, E and S-Class models), the R-Class (a large luxury estate with SUV styling), plus the ML-Class and GL-Class luxury SUVs to consider. Nobody planning to buy a used Mercedes will be short of choice.
