A historic view on Seat

The biggest selling models in the range are the Ibiza supermini based on the Volkswagen Polo and the Leon family hatch based on the Volkswagen Golf. These are also the most common SEAT used cars. The third generation Ibiza launched in 2002 and the curvy MK4 car of 2008 are the ones to go for. With the Leon, it's the original 1999 cars which feel very similar to the MK4 Golf and the second generation models which are less obviously related to the MK5 Golf. The fast FR and Cupra versions of Ibiza and Leon were particularly popular and good pre-owned versions are easy to find. Other noteworthy SEAT second hand cars include the Arosa, an inexpensive city car, the Altea MPV and the Toledo. There's also the Audi A4-based SEAT Exeo launched in 2009. Used second hand SEATs are notably less expensive than the equivalent Volkswagens and the later models tend to have more vibrant designs than the VW-badged alternatives.
