The county of Shropshire is situated in the West Midlands of England and neighbours the counties of Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Wrexham, Powys, Cheshire and Worcestershire. Shrewsbury is the county town and the four other main towns of Shropshire are Oswestry, Telford, Ludlow and Bridgnorth. Shropshire is well known for the world’s first ever iron bridge which attracts many tourists to this day. It is a World Heritage Site and goes back to the very start of the industrial revolution.
Shropshire is one of the calmest and laid back counties in England but there is still plenty to do and see. It is mainly rural and is one of the less populated counties in the country. Most of the county is bordered by the River Severn and the area is recognisable by the striking white and black buildings dating back to medieval times. The Wrekin which is a large hill close to Telford is one of the most commonly known landmarks.
